12:55 PM? where on earth did the morning go? september 16? where did the summer go? 37? where did my youth go? ha!
i cannot believe i am going to be 37 in a few weeks. thirty. seven. unreal. that's not even a cool number. how did this happen to me? i thought that when i played peter pan in my early 20's, that would seal my fate. no more aging. 21 forever.

not that i want to be 21. yuck. i was so naive and ridiculous. so sure of myself and so unsure at the same time.

wait a minute. nothing has changed!

of course i am kidding. i am definitely not naive anymore. thanks to my ex-husband, who taught me everything i know about craziness, stupidity, bitterness and narcissism. oh, and tenors. but my opera singing is so much richer now!!! :)

that's called making limoncello out of lemons, ladies.

anyway, if anyone had asked me when i was 25 if i would be 37 someday, i honestly think i would have said, "no. hmm mmm. nope. is that even a number?" it's not that high in the aging process, but there's something so glib about it. so monday-after-thanksgiving.

the only thing that would make 37 better?

a wedding. tra la la la la laaaaaaa....

FRIDAY!!!!

i am doing cartwheels this morning, i am so happy. not only is this wretched week over, but my computer died yesterday and i was really starting to panic. i turned it on this morning, then took a hot bath and read a little, trying to enjoy my morning. i came in to see it up and running again!! it just decided it needed a break and refused to work until today. which prompts me to turn my computer off more. i need a break from it as well! i spend all my free time checking e-mail and i need to pull away from it and just enjoy a cup of coffee and a good book. i actually have found a way to have the time for those things now, and i'm feeling really good about that. so take the time! do it!

the answer to having down time is:

prepare yourself. it's brilliant. no one has ever thought of it before.

here it is: get up earlier.

DUH!!! why didn't i think of this until now? if you get up at the crack of dawn, work out, get your nagging to-do list somewhat under control, and make your plans for the day, ALL WHILE STILL HALF ASLEEP ~ by the time you really wake up and have had your coffee, you're good to go!!! what was i doing sleeping that extra few hours in the morning? did it make me less tired during the day? no, because i was so stressed out all day trying to fit it all in that i would be a zombie by the end of the night.

i hope this plan does not offend all my hard-working moms out there, who get up at the crack of dawn to get their kids to day care or school or whatever. i know you get up because you have to, and i'm saying i choose to get up so that i can have down time and get more done. that's why i'm going to let you have the wonderful children and i'm going to be selfish aunt sarah.

so now i get up at 5:45 and get going.

well, not this week. this week was a mess. but it's over now, right? so let's put it behind us, trying not to look down at the muffin top hanging over my skirt, and get on with the weekend!!!

which looks like it might be a rainy one here in kansas city. fine by me. bring on the rain! it's my first week of the pixy wagon lunch biz and i will be cooking all weekend anyway. OH JOY.

off to costco to join the other suburban moms. ha!

just bought THREE pairs of shoes. a decadent day, of course. but also, a practical move, if you can believe it, and a true "good-bye" to my youth. i have officially given up wearing heels. i have beautiful heels, but they are going to good will, no doubt to some 6 year-old who also wears size 5 shoes, so that she can play dress up with them. erggg.
so i bought a pair of flat rain boots, which will replace my adorable high-heeled wedge, gathered toe boots from ALDO. they are so great, but i am crippled for days after i wear them.
then i bought two pairs of flat performance shoes. no more heels, even when performing. especially when performing!!!

when i was at the mall, i stumbled upon a great health food/fast food place ~ called CAFE FRESH. smoothies and fresh juices, wraps and salads, soups and healthy treats. amazing! i had a "detox" juice, with veggies like spinach and carrots in it. so insanely good and so revitalizing!

i have been complaining for years about the fact that no one has thought of a fast food place that is healthy. thank you, oak park mall!!! i'm sure it's a chain and i hope it catches on. i hope some day, that you can pull up to a drive-through window and order a protein shake and a healthy, fresh wrap with a side of carrots sticks. WHY THE HECK NOT!!!!!
